Cinéfila ConsumidoraAugust 16, 2026An intriguing action packed thriller with a touch of suspense and drama. Harrison Ford’s performance is yet another one of his bests.

Cinéfila ConsumidoraAugust 13, 2026Somehow this sequel felt better than its predecessor. Aspects such as the pacing, atmosphere and tone add more flavor to the story.

Cinéfila ConsumidoraAugust 13, 2026Harrison Ford is, by far, the best aspect of the film, in which the narrative doesn’t sustain itself that well.

Cinéfila ConsumidoraAugust 13, 2026Interesting and committed narrative, with performances that capture the atmosphere of a spy film. Still, the duration could be a bit shorter and a few things should have been better explained.

Cinéfila ConsumidoraAugust 12, 2026A family fun film with two charismatic performances of Robert Duvall and Michael Caine. One of those film you should watch when you need cheering up.

Cinéfila ConsumidoraAugust 12, 2026Interesting, though somewhat predictable. Haley Joel Osment’s performance is again one of the best given from a child. The pacing may be a bit slow, but the story is profound as a whole.

Cinéfila ConsumidoraAugust 12, 2026I remember watching it for the first time at school and be quite shocked at the ending. Still, the main message of the film is what makes it work and helps the story as it goes along.

One Night Only (2026)

StevenCsMoviesAugust 10, 2026Premarital sex is now illegal, with the exception of one night per year. This is the concept of director Will Gluck’s new rom-com ONE NIGHT ONLY. He has mostly directed movies that focus on the dynamics of sex and relationships, such as ANYONE BUT YOU and EASY A, which is my favourite of his. His newest is his strangest one yet. Think of it like this: If THE PURGE was about murder, ONE NIGHT ONLY is about singles getting it on. It features Owen (Callum Turner), the owner of a pizza shop who gets basically dumped by his girlfriend Malika (Maya Hawke). He is tired of the celibacy mandate the US government has enforced. Meanwhile, Allie (Monica Barbaro) is a hopeless romantic who sings jingles for pharmaceutical drugs. She’s just hoping to find a good guy. This being a romantic comedy, there’s a constant “will-they-won’t-they” vibe throughout the runtime. I love whenever they share the screen. The music is fun, sometimes funny. Funnily enough, this movie takes place on August 7, 2026, the day this movie was released, as well as my birthday. It’s a commentary on hookup culture, dating apps, and the modern dating hells- sorry, landscape. Overall, you can view ONE NIGHT ONLY in one of two ways. The first being the fascist, conservative, anti-sex movie that’s masquerading as a horny rom-com. The second being the fun rom-com with two good-looking leads who have amazing chemistry, with a few fun cameos sprinkled in for good measure, including a not-so-well-fleshed-out concept. I’m intent on swiping right on the latter. At the risk of having too many sexual innuendos, sometimes it’s not that deep.

m1amagnoliaAugust 10, 2026This movie entirely hinges on being a satire and I think it pays off primarily because Jaeden Martell and Asa Butterfield give extremely compelling and honest performances. Even though they play caricatures of everyday men, the story felt very grounded in its portrayal of violence, masculinity, control, desire, connection, and abuse. Shallow and confusing in an authentic way. Really fascinating movie.
Also Jennifer Ehle is kind of the most beautiful woman ever.

Summer with Monika (1953)

K AugustAugust 10, 2026Where did Harriet Andersson come from, and why wasn't that in my neighbourhood? I was very intrigued by the films of Ingmar Bergman after 'The Seventh Seal' and 'Through A Glass Darkly', but I was not prepared for the freedom and true eroticism of this film and the performance of Ms. Andersson. Two youths enjoy the summer together why dealing with the pressures of upcoming adulthood and their own dreams and ambitions. Perhaps Bergman went further in films like 'Persona' and 'The Hour of the Wolf', but this early take on love and life is a remarkable turn for its era.
