It's the late 1980s. Soviet naval engineers are working hard to create a task force capable of countering American aircraft carriers. A new generation of aircraft-carrying cruisers is entering service. After a series of trials and tribulations, Senior Lieutenant Sergey Denisov, a hereditary military pilot, joins the elite unit of the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov. At this time, the tragic collapse of the Soviet Union is taking place. The painful process of dividing the Black Sea Fleet between Ukraine and Russia begins. The garrison where Denisov serves is divided. The regiment commander is dismissed, and new leadership, appointed from Kiev, prepares for armed conflict with the Russian army. At the peak of the conflict, the crew of the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov ignores orders from the Ukrainian authorities and withdraws the cruiser to the Northern Fleet, under Russian jurisdiction. To prevent an attack on the departing ship, the pilots decide to scramble fighter jets.
