Comando Final (2005)★ 7.3/10

The film stands out not only for its electrifying fight sequences but also for its thoughtful exploration of morality and fate. The use of color is striking, and the score is exceptional; its heightened bloodiness, compared to earlier Hong Kong action films, underscores both the brutal realities of life and the bond of brotherhood at its core.

There are many ways to portray grief on screen. Some actors opt for loud theatrics, but that can feel hollow. Liu Kai-chi takes the quieter route—he builds emotion through restrained detail before letting it erupt in a sudden burst of rage. The result is not just impactful, but deeply reflective of the character’s volatility.
