It's a pretty creepy and fun horror film. Unique as well. Feels like the type of movie you can watch with friends and kind of joke around, but then it does have it's more scary moments. Maybe it wasn't great, but it was a movie worth experiencing.

A classic with lots of funny moments. If you want to learn how to do comedy in a silent way, which is somewhat of a lost skill, then this should be exhibit A. Well worth a watch for any major cinephile.

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man (2026)
SStevenCsMoviesMarch 16, 2026
Back in 2013, British crime series PEAKY BLINDERS was released on Netflix. I remember being a massive fan, but I also remember how annoyed I got due to the fact that they only released 36 episodes in total, over 9 years. Well, I’m happy again because there is now a movie, PEAKY BLINDERS: THE IMMORTAL MAN. Taking place years later, it’s 1940. Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) has left the Peaky Blinders to write a book in self-exile, haunted by his past. Without getting into detail, he eventually chooses to go back in the fold to help his son Duke, who is now played by the unpredictable and always great Barry Keoghan. I love how real events are weaved into the story. It’s a dark time in Great Britain. I enjoyed this film. It’s always difficult to turn a beloved series into a movie. It has a different tone, which threw me off for a while. It feels a little slow, until it eventually picks up. Despite this being a continuation of the series, they do an amazing job of giving the audience just enough information to not feel lost. It also doesn’t feel repetitive for long-time fans. The dialogue is going to be a problem for people. The accent makes it difficult to understand. Saying this, I still highly recommend watching PEAKY BLINDERS: THE IMMORTAL MAN when it comes out on Netflix next week.

Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie (2025)
SStevenCsMoviesMarch 12, 2026
In 2007, comic duo Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol created a Canadian mockumentary web series called "Nirvana the Band”, playing fictionalized versions of themselves trying to obtain a gig at the Rivoli in Toronto. In 2017, they created the series called “Nirvanna the Band the Show”. Now, the dynamic duo are back with a movie called NIRVANNA THE BAND THE SHOW THE MOVIE. How have I never heard of these guys until now? This is the funniest movie since THE NAKED GUN. The humour isn’t nearly as silly as that though. They are still hell-bent on getting that gig at the Rivoli. They still haven’t thought to just call them. Matt is the planner and Jay is the piano accompaniment. There are so many things in this movie that begs the question “How did they pull that off?”. The way they talk to actual people out in Toronto, evoking their actual reactions, is so funny. Some moments are beyond belief, but they set the tone for what wacky shenanigans these guys eventually get up to. Each of them has a clear goal in mind. I loved hearing the reactions of the audience behind me. They have undeniable chemistry and increasingly desperate plans. At its core, this is a sincere look at a specific friendship dynamic that is relatable, even though the antics they get up to are the whims of manchildren. I’m so happy I can still be surprised while watching movies these days. It’s energetic, unpredictable, and surprisingly heartfelt. Overall, NIRVANNA THE BAND THE SHOW THE MOVIE is a love letter to Toronto, successfully reviving something I never even knew existed, and what might very well be the funniest and most charming movie this year. It’s not very long and it sticks the landing. What more can I ask for?
Carnage (2011)

This was an odd experience. I had already read 'Art' after reading a review and noting how close it was to some of the reactions I've seen to certain dubious purchases, and then I read 'God of Carnage,' the basis of this film. And finally, I had to sit down and see what she and Roman Polanski could do with such a story set in such a limited amount of space. This is very key and important for the mood of the film. Adaptations often suffer when they adhere too closely to the script, and that critique could be used here. But I don't think the film would have worked if we did not feel the claustrophia and tensions between the two families attempting to come sort of détente after their respective boys get into a fight at a park. Kate Winslet and Jodie Foster were nominated for Golden Globes, but I think that all of the cast - with their husbands played by Christoph Waltz and John C. Reilly - deserve some laurels for carrying this story to its very entertaining conclusion (no spoilers here).
Please watch...and enjoy the cobbler!
A Clockwork Orange (1971)

Even though I am not a fanatical lover of this film... And even though I understand the criticisms that Pauline Kael and others have levelled at this film... And even though the cult of personality around it and Kubrick bother me... I cannot shake this film. I am someone who does not note the dates when I watch films, but I remember finally watching this one on my twentieth birthday after many years of experience with the book, posters, and the merch that seemed to be a necessity for certain groups in my hometown (I'll be kind and not call them gangs). And it is a film that you cannot remain neutral about. Is Kubrick the critic or exploiter of violence on film and in society? Are we all clockwork oranges if we keep accepting such movies without understanding what they say about us (Pauline Kael's main critique of the film)? Or is it simply the worst masterpiece ever committed to celluloid (a line I once read in a magazine in a reassessement of the film)?
In any case, the film is still loved, and I am still writing about it. I can remember the tribute in Tokyo when Kubrick died and all the films were aired...in public (it was very strange to see monitors in a store displaying scenes from this and the rest of his oeuvre with not a single raised eyebrow among anyone...except me).
Maybe we have accepted the vision of a future we don't want to face.
Maybe we are all now clockwork oranges.

I was having fun, and then I became bored, and then angry, and then I couldn't stop noticing flaws. Buckley and Bale give good performances. That's countered by a woefully miscast Penelope Cruz and an all-time-low performance from Peter Sarsgaard.

Simple but really good. Rented the HD version and it was worth it -- picture was looking extra crisp. Great fight scenes... i don't even want to call it choreography because it feels like they were just bashin on each other. And full of iconic lines and scenes.
The Room (2003)

Truly a masterpiece of bad cinema. This movie contains all the "dont do this" that they will teach you in film class. So, essentially, you can become a renown director if you just watch this movie a couple of times and figure out what not to do.
Besides that, it gives us a very long list of quotables, like: "You're tearing me apart Lisa", "Hi doggie", and many other lines of nonsensical, incoherent "dialogue".
Strongly recommended to watch with friends if you never have.
