Sovereign (2025)★ 6.3/10

Drawn from a true story, "Sovereign" aims to spotlight systemic issues in American society. Its tone is deliberately slow and somber, designed to leave a lasting impact. Yet the story feels too simple and formulaic to carry its weight, and its heavy-handed message undermines its emotional power.

It’s surprising to learn that "Sovereign" is based on real events. The film is visually striking, even its violent scenes are bathed in eerie clarity. Although the first half nearly lulled me to sleep, the second half grew increasingly compelling, particularly as the father’s mental instability became more apparent.
