'Smoke' es una serie que plasma un thriller investigativo policial, con muy interesantes giros argumentales, que van desentrañando un caso piromaníaco complejo. Sin embargo, el primer giro argumental llega demasiado pronto y el último llega demasiado tarde en la historia, perdiendo la oportunidad de una mayor proyección del personaje principal en su trama. Taron Egerton y Greg Kinnear van de más a menos, mientras que Jurnee Smollett y Rafe Spall van de menos a más. Buenos roles por parte de Ntare Mwine y John Leguizamo. Compensan bien los protagonismos. La serie no desarrolla bien algunas subtramas, e incluso toca algunas que no influyen de ninguna forma en la trama principal, dejando de explotar al máximo la misma.

The production design is visually impressive, and the opening sequence is genuinely creative, especially in its depiction of fire, which feels remarkably authentic. Yet the plot feels overly conventional—another procedural mystery drenched in a dark, green-tinted filter that eventually becomes distracting. Combined with its sluggish pacing, the story never quite rises to match its visuals.

"Smoke" stands out as one of the most compelling crime thrillers of 2025. Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollett make for a surprisingly dynamic duo, bringing real intensity to the story of arson investigations and detective work. Set against the moody backdrop of the Pacific Northwest, the film steadily and suspensefully unravels layers of secrets, making it deeply engaging.
