Ali is responsible for repairing the heavy machinery of a road construction company. He is sent by the company on an assignment outside Tehran, where he gets into a confrontation with Sohrab, the son of Salar, the company manager. During an incident, Sohrab is killed while attempting to assault a young Romani woman named Kamand, and Ali becomes the prime suspect. Salar's men capture Ali to hand him over to the gendarmes, but he escapes with Kamand's help and is wounded during the getaway. Kamand and another Romani woman nurse him back to health. Jalil, the son of the Romani community's leader, who is in love with Kamand, devises a plan to turn Ali over to Salar. During a confrontation with Ali, however, Jalil confesses that he was the one who killed Sohrab because of his love for Kamand. After a clash with the Romani men, Ali turns Jalil over to the gendarmes and returns to Tehran with Kamand.
