- Storyline
- VE50 was the BAFTA and RTS winning live events coverage of the national commemorative events marking the 50th anniversary of VE Day that took place in London in 1995 hosted by Sir John Tusa. The events included a major international veterans salute and concert in Hyde Park, a state banquet at Guildhall, a national commemoration in St Pauls Cathedral and a fly past at Buckingham Palace. Amongst a large production team, Andrew Miller contributed a number of filmed inserts including a rare tv interview with US Ambassador to France Pamela Harriman recalling the wartime she spent in 10 Downing Street with Winston Churchill as his daughter-in-law; the role of the Home Guard with Dad's Army actor Bill Pertwee and last HG club at Leamington Spa; and the role of the Outer Hebrides in the Battle of the Atlantic.
