- After overcoming a life of crime and gang-related violence, Omar Ayad, an English Literature teacher, has turned his life around and hopes to be able to help others do the same. In times of harsh divisions and facing the bitter reality of his underpoverished inner city environment, Omar finds solace through teaching. However, the further he traverses, the quicker he realises that attonement comes at a price, as he is unwillingly pitted against the backdrop of a new generation of troubled youths, a rampant knife-crime epidemic, racism, gangs and county drug lines. During this journey, we see as his life intersects both with the people and predicaments around him in the present, as well as from his past.
