- Storyline
- Set during the normalization era of Czechoslovakia, this new six-part miniseries entitled The Markovic Method tells the story of the apprehension and conviction of one of the most terrifying serial killers of the time, Ladislav Hojer, by the legendary detective Jiri Markovic. At the turn of the 1980s, Prague is a very hostile place, drab and run-down. Muted crowds form orderly lines in front of half-empty stores whilst vibrant posters plastered on the walls of battered houses commemorate an infamous anniversary. It's in this bleak, gray setting where a chilling new phenomenon emerges in the streets at night - young sexual assailants with sadistic tendencies. It was precisely these individuals that Jiri Markovic relentlessly pursued throughout his extensive career. The series not only delves into the investigation and apprehension of Ladislav Hojer and his unique connection with his investigator but also weaves closed cases from various points in Markovic's career into every episode. These cases held paramount importance in his journey as an elite investigator, illustrating how his method evolved during this specific period that made him so distinctive. Thus, the legend of Markovic was born.
