Abbie_PowersApril 19, 2024I'd give it an 8.7 out of 10. I believe that adaptations like this aim to bring a great literary work to a wider audience in an engaging way while staying true to the original author's vision. It's all about delivering top-notch sound effects, visuals, and storytelling—a universal standard. This show nailed it. Despite its flaws, I really enjoyed this show.

MinliuzApril 19, 2024As someone who read the original, I think they did a great job condensing the plot. It's impressive how they covered the main book content in just a few episodes, making it easy to follow and enjoyable for new viewers of this series. My favorite change is how they reshuffled the characters from the book, creating connections in the show and avoiding awkward moments from the source material, like key characters becoming irrelevant later on.

Ivan_ThomasApril 19, 2024In general, the middle section of the show kind of drags with too many family dramas thrown in, giving it a soap opera vibe wrapped in a sci-fi world, which unfortunately takes away from the grand narrative of the original story. However, the beginning and ending are pretty solid. The last episode especially brings back some of that original feel by returning to the main storyline of “3 Body Problem” faster.

Bergor_osakaApril 19, 2024Honestly, you can tell the writing team really did their research on the original material. The character development in this show is cleverly done, avoiding the less-than-ideal portrayals from the source material. Plus, you can see Netflix is committed to a long series based on the extensive setup in the later episodes. However, the script can feel a bit lackluster and confusing at times. And for a show with a reported budget of 20 million per episode, the special effects sometimes fail to live up to the hype. All in all, give it an 8 out of 10 to show my support.

Douglas_StewartApril 19, 2024This is a well-crafted piece of work. The scriptwriting is top-notch, with a tight pacing. They did a great job connecting the different characters from the original while staying true to their essence, making the storyline easy to follow and coherent. They really took a complex sci-fi novel and turned it into a TV show that can be enjoyed by people all around the world. However, the only downside is they didn't dig deep enough into the characters, especially Ye Wenjie. Her pivotal moments and struggles in life weren't given the proper attention, which is a bit disappointing.

Terry_RobinsonApril 19, 2024Overall, this show is solid. It's got a ton of imaginative moments that really grab your attention. Even though I haven't read the original, this adaptation is really great. I'm getting increasingly into Jin Cheng's intelligence and beauty as the story unfolds. And seeing these super smart scientists team up and wield such incredible power is mind-blowing. Let me tell you, Will Downing's love is truly something special. I just can't wait to see what the next season has in store!

Bryon_StevensApril 4, 2024Personally, when I put the original source material aside, I don't think this show is a total flop as a sci-fi series. It's actually better than average and manages to keep me hooked throughout. The actors' performances are awe-inspiring, and the special effects aren't too shabby either. But here's the bummer: a lot of the big moments just don't pack the punch that would truly blow people away. As for the storyline, apart from the pivotal role of Ye Wenjie, this show has made some significant changes while trying to stay true to the original work. All in all, it's a brand-new sci-fi series that still manages to capture the essence of the original story. From this point of view, it's still worth recommending.

Andrea_ZavalaApril 4, 2024You know what bums me out about this show? It totally didn't capture the heart and soul of the original work. Instead, it waters the story down with too many mundane and boring plot points. Take the main storyline of Ye Wenjie's link to the Trisolarans, for instance. The show simplified her motivation to just plain hatred instead of showing her deep despair toward humanity. There's a significant difference between the two, you see. Hatred and love are powerful emotions, showing that the person is still torn up over society and humanity. It may be easier to understand, but it's not as convincing.

Arielle_LancasterApril 4, 2024
Arielle_LancasterApril 4, 2024I'm pretty let down. Even though the special effects are top-notch, combining characters from all three books into new ones just didn't click. While they were going for an ensemble cast vibe, almost every character feels like they're just placeholders, lacking personality and emotions. I'm also a bit bummed about how Ye Wenjie was portrayed. She came off as having a deep hatred for evil from the get-go, with too little revealed about her past. Adapting "The Three-Body Problem" for the small screen is already a challenge, so it's extra tough to swallow such significant changes to the plot. It's pretty disappointing that Netflix not only merged content from all three books but also simplified the complex worldview of the original work into a basic love story.

Luke_JohnsonApril 4, 2024
Luke_JohnsonApril 4, 2024This show falls flat and feels superficial. They took intricate sci-fi ideas and turned them into flashy visuals while changing the original Chinese story into one brimming with personal heroism and a huge savior complex. Netflix had to make big changes to appeal to a wider audience, resulting in a storyline lacking depth. I can understand that, but despite the production quality, the scope was broad and shallow, and the special effects didn't quite meet expectations.
