The design and animation are simple yet thoughtful, with expressive details and well-paced dialogue. However, the lack of suspense or major conflicts makes it less compelling to follow.

Dragon Ball was the most captivating animation of my childhood. However, upon reflection and comparison with other anime, the character depth in Dragon Ball seems somewhat simplistic.

Dragon Ball is a part of my childhood. Every character is memorable. The overarching theme pays homage to Journey to the West yet it is brilliantly adapted. The martial arts elements and the whimsical plot in the first part are especially well-done

A gem from my childhood and one of the most popular animations of our generation. Influenced by Jackie Chan's films, the first part of the series, focusing on adventure, is undeniably classic.

The original Dragon Ball series is the essence of the franchise—youthful, energetic, and joyous. The adventures shared between friends and their growth, as well as Goku's innocence and bravery are truly moving.

Akira Toriyama started Dragon Ball with a focus on martial arts and Chinese elements, with the storyline primarily revolving around the characters' growth in power and understanding of the world. The fight scenes are exciting, interspersed with humorous and heartwarming moments.

Despite the dated art style, it has a superior execution and pacing compared to Dragon Ball Super, and its plot is notably more consistent than the newer series.

Overall, Dragon Ball remains impressive, though sometimes the combat skills is questionable - the difference between the strongest and weakest fighters don't seem that pronounced. The few slice-of-life episodes and the thrilling Tournament of Power arc provide a highly enjoyable viewing experience.

Ideally, Dragon Ball should have concluded with Goku’s marriage or, at the latest, at the end of the Frieza Saga. While subsequent episodes introduced the Super Saiyan concept and many iconic characters, later arcs suffered from repetitive and escalating power levels and transformations that lack proper buildup, leading to a decline in narrative and combat quality.
