Pokémon (1997)★ 7.8/10

It’s a classic Japanese anime with many adorable Pokémon that I love dearly.

Ahead of Chi and Pikachu, the world of Pokémon has many puzzles and adventures awaiting them, will they be greeted by light or darkness, and will Chi become a Pokémon Master as he wishes? This was what I was most looking forward to when I first watched it! Then this work stayed with me for many years and I really enjoyed it.

This series has been a lifelong companion for me—simply watching any episode brings happiness.

Pokémon is a true childhood memory, with every creature memorable and many plots deeply ingrained in the minds of viewers.

The series was once lively and filled with lighthearted adventures, but that charm has unfortunately vanished. It’s disappointing that despite the improved animation quality, the storyline and new characters lack the intrigue they once had.

Looking back, the pacing of Pokémon now seems slow, but my rating is heavily influenced by nostalgia. In an era before the internet was ubiquitous, I eagerly awaited each episode during dinner time, creating indelible memories with Ash, Misty, Brock, and iconic Pokémon like Pikachu, Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle. Team Rocket, often the comic relief despite their antagonistic role, left a memorable impression with their catchy introduction.

This animated series is a long-time favorite for many people. Some viewers might be well into their middle ages, but they still hold fond memories of Pikachu and the other Pokémons because this show really is part of their childhood. I may have forgotten how I felt when I first came across "Pokémon" ten or more years ago, but I do know that right now, it brings back to me a lot of great memories and joy.
