- Storyline
- Dulce María was born in the heart of the tropics and, after the death of her parents, inherited their land and a vast fortune. However, her ruthless governess, Zarina, deprived her of her rightful inheritance and raised her as a servant in her own home, making her believe she was born an orphan and destitute. Despite her stepmother's cruelty, Dulce María grows into a young woman full of optimism and innocence. Her genuine nature wins the hearts of many townspeople, especially the children. Among them is Caraotica, an unforgettable boy with strange powers; in reality, Caraotica is an angel who unwittingly "fell" into the convent's backyard while on a celestial mission in Villa del Mar. Sister Ada, the nun who raised Dulce María, becomes her confidante and greatest source of moral support. In her youth, Sister Ada had experienced everything from hunting tigers in the wild to singing classical ballads, and she instilled in Dulce María a strong idealism and enthusiasm for life. This is how Dulce María became a dreamer; a young woman who shared her dreams and adventures with imaginary characters: a lively lizard named Homero, a symbol of emotion; the toucan Prometeo, a symbol of reason; and the flirtatious canary Alicia Josefina, a symbol of love. One day, Dulce María is reunited with her childhood sweetheart, Juan Francisco, a newly graduated military cadet. This marks the beginning of a passionate love story, threatened by envy, jealousy, and unbridled ambition. However, with the help of Jacques Delfín, a mysterious and eccentric man who lives on a yacht off the coast of Villa del Mar, Dulce María and Juan Francisco will finally uncover the secret of their heritage and find true love.
