Hiroyuki Sanada was perfectly cast for this series. It's impressive how it appeals to both Eastern and Western audiences, and how it respects the ancient Japanese civilization as it was.

The first episode showcases excellent historical authenticity for its costuming, props and makeup; Toyotomi Hideyoshi's armor is nearly identical to that in the museum, showing the crew's dedication. The cinematography, sound effects, and background music are all impressive.

"Shogun" impressively presents beautiful scenery and cities that really make an impact. The stunning costumes and mouth-watering cuisine create a strong illusion of peace, making the eruption of violence feel even more jarring. The conflicts in the TV series aren't just simple samurai duels but strategic decisions made by various factions before the war broke out.

This show is hands down the most delightful surprise lately. I was completely drawn by its depth while watching. In the past, shows tended to focus too much on the samurai spirit, overlooking the narrative of the historical period itself when portraying the Japanese Shogunate era. Finally, we have a show that is willing to delve into the topic seriously. I'm totally invested and eager to keep following it as long as it maintains the current quality. Just hoping it wraps up nicely and doesn't leave us hanging.

Hiroyuki Sanada's presence is truly remarkable, and I'm really into it. The costumes and makeup throughout the entire show are exquisite, nailing the attire, weapons, and ceremonies. And the actors really deliver a solid and beautiful performance. Despite the show being called "Shogun," the story is actually about a general history from the perspective of the British protagonist. Personally, I'm not too thrilled about this kind of story that lacks authentic Japanese essence. But hey, gotta mention again that they really nailed it with the props.

Wow, so it turns out this season was like a super long buildup to the main action. No wonder the pace has been so slow. Amid motivations like facing death together and loyalty unto death, which aren't universally relatable, the individual characters get a bit blurry. However, the uncle-nephew relationship really stands out as the most interesting and well-defined. Fumi Nikaidou's acting is seriously impressive, holding up under different camera angles. It would be even better if they dialed back on cultural education and focused more on historical intrigue and character development. Still, gotta give credit to the camera shots, candlelight effects, and scene setups.

This show vividly portrays a Kamakura shogunate world in Japan’s history brimming with intrigue, humor, love, and action, offering the audience not just an audiovisual feast but also a deep dive into human nature. With outstanding performances and a brilliant script, this series is bound to become a timeless classic.

I've been checking out some educational videos on Japanese history to better grasp the storyline, and I'm currently up to the Kamakura shogunate period. The visuals, pacing, and fight scenes in the show are pretty good, but they fall short when it comes to delving into political scheming. Every now and then, I notice the characters' actions and reasoning don't quite add up.

The exotic vibe in this show is so real, with that dark, eerie vibe of samurai battles. I was immediately hooked because they kept the original writing style; I even picked up some new stuff about the Battle of Sekigahara, a story I thought I already knew. The whole British and Portuguese sea power showdown, which mixed them in with Japan's Warring States history, feels like a page out of Marco Polo's adventures, blurring reality and fiction for a dramatic effect.
