Dr. Stone (2019)★ 7.7/10

This anime brings science fantasies from childhood to life through its world-building. I look forward to seeing how it develops.

While Dr. Stone has an excellent premise, it comes across as an educational show for children, who are probably its actual target audience. However, there are numerous logical inconsistencies, which is kinda unacceptable for me.

The series triumphs primarily through its unique story, stepping away from the typical shonen plots with their endless power-ups and battles. Instead, it places the thrill on the path of human scientific advancement, offering a refreshing experience.

It s an exciting show with a creative story that is both funny and touching. I binge-watched three seasons and am now eager to read the manga.

Dr. Stone offers a novel concept - it's essentially shrouding a generic, passionate shonen male lead in scientism. The protagonists are perhaps too powerful and fortunate, sidestepping many realistic challenges with all their obstacles faced in an idealized environment.

While the animation in Dr. Stone may not be exceptional, its intent is admirable, particularly in an era dominated by populism and anti-intellectualism. The show's greatest significance is demonstrating valuable pursuits we should strive for — what shapes the world is not the deceit of politicians, but humanity's relentless exploration and innovation in science across ages.
