“I only want to do the kind of work that I would like to go and see, that's going to teach me something new, that involves working with people I can learn something from and I can give something to.” British actor, producer, and director of film and theater. He began his career in the theater before playing small roles in television productions and British feature films. He gained recognition for his role in Anthony Minghella's The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), for which he won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and was nominated for an Oscar Award. But his leap to fame came in the early 2000s with the titles Artificial Intelligence (2001) by Steven Spielberg, Road to Perdition (2002) by Sam Mendes, and Cold Mountain (2003) by Minghella, for which he received Academy Award and BAFTA nominations. He participated in other blockbuster projects alongside renowned stars such as the drama Closer (2004) and the romantic comedy The Holiday (2006). He then took on several roles, including Dr. Watson in Sherlock Holmes (2009) and Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows (2011), a younger Albus Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) and Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore's Secrets (2022). Law has appeared in several productions in London's West End and on Broadway in New York, including Les Parents Terribles in 1994, Hamlet in 2010, and Anna Christie in 2011. He is a partner in the production company Natural Nylon with Jonny Lee Miller, Ewan McGregor, and his ex-wife Sadie Frost.
