Alex Dillard is a native of Wilkesboro, North Carolina, and a graduate of Western Carolina University and Appalachian State University. During his time at WCU he was active in the film department; writing and directing several student films, as well as working as a radio announcer. Alex later earned a Master’s Degree in Library Science from ASU, during which he authored short fiction. His most notable stories include "Made of Dust," "Extreme Angles," "As The Tide Turns," and "I Remember Tomorrow." While at Graduate School he also traveled to Germany to represent ASU at international literary festivals. At present, Alex works for the North Carolina Department of Education, and serves as a film and literary critic for multiple publications. He resides in Durham, North Carolina.
