SECONDS follows university-aged Marisol, a former high school swimming champion, now years out of shape, as she returns to the pool to reclaim her talent, struggling to repeat a previous lap time. But her return to the water triggers a confrontation with the lost memories of a sexual assault committed by her high school psychologist and the beginning of an existential journey. Marisol must navigate the complex relationship she has with her body, as well as a new love interest, while learning to integrate and reconnect with the past. The film flows between the present and a single high school therapy session, which ended in the abuse. Ultimately the time lines converge as Marisol reclaims her agency and finally makes her swim time.
