Every Sunday, a young man visits his senile mother in a hospice, transforming her room into a grand casino where she becomes vibrant and charming, never realizing he is her son. Tonight, on her "birthday," they play blackjack. She flirts, laughs-until fleeting memories triggered by a bouquet of violets break the illusion. The final card is drawn. An ace would win the game, but instead, the Joker appears. The fantasy shatters. He falters, but she smiles. "The Joker is everything we can be," she says. "I already know who I am. Now it's your turn to find out." But does he?
