Censor (2021)★ 6.4/10

By transforming the inherent unreality of the video nasties into a supernatural element, Prano Bailey-Bond makes them just as shocking as the British authorities claimed they were. While the age of pearl-clutching censorship is through (with exceptions), its remaining vestiges are now a beacon for the "dangerous" cinema it fought to suppress.

Censor probes at the underlying impetus of the entire movement to ban cheap schlock by embodying it in a character whose own puritanical virtue may exist to shield her against some unsavoury truths about her own past. There is also plenty of bloodshed on display that is right in line with the films that made the DDP list!
