wickeremergedJuly 21, 2024
wickeremergedJuly 21, 2024The film treats the donkey as a true character, using its subjective perspective and unique shots to evoke empathy from the audience. Moments like the donkey's embarrassment while watching horses run free, or its confusion amid a cheering crowd, are profoundly moving. It even delves into the donkey’s memories and thoughts, questioning whether animal rights activists genuinely consider the animal's welfare or is it merely a form of hollow formalism.

SuperMovieJuly 21, 2024When a director's skillful, even a donkey can deliver an award-worthy performance. The issue with the donkey's poor acting skill lies with both with the animal and the director; no one can evade responsibility. This film showcases the director's distinctive style and creativity, making it hard to believe it comes from an 85-year-old, as it’s filled with freshness and visual beauty.

flexNiTEFebruary 22, 2023The donkey is great
It can be regarded as a road movie. The donkey is an NPC. Its POV perspective is collaged with European social and political scenes. The director seems to find a balance between narrative and counter-narrative. The audio-visual language is great. It deserves an award.

Nexus StrikerJanuary 30, 2023Hats off to Jerzy Skolimowski
What experienced experts in any industry should do: make the best contribution to the industry they’d worked in. Regardless of whether the contribution of the elderly is successful or unsuccessful, it is respectable. Jerzy Skolimowski is the director of directors, and his work is like film of films. Another thing I want to say is, please give the Best Leading Actor award to six donkeys in the film.
