The best biographical sports film, truly remarkable. Nyad mentioned three things: firstly, never give up; failure never deters her efforts. Women go through many hardships in life, but setbacks won't stop them from pressing on. A woman's destiny isn't defined by her surname but by her own will. Secondly, age is no barrier, as she achieved her dream that she had at thirty when she was sixty. The growth of the mind can compensate for the aging of the body, and she always insists on expressing herself. Third, success is not achieved alone, it's achieved with the help of a team. Two queer women don't have to be in a romantic relationship, true love can be the "I love yous” expressed between lifelong friends. The diverse female characters initially made me marvel at the thoughtfulness of the screenwriters, but ultimately, I realized that this is how the story truly unfolded. The contributions and achievements of women, the LGBTQ+ community, and ethnic minorities should never be overlooked.

I will forever be moved by the power and spirit of humanity, and I was brought to tears by the end. It's a top-notch biographical sports film that seamlessly blends visuals and storytelling, providing a comprehensive and vivid portrayal of the legendary journey of marathon swimmer Diana Nyad in her later years. The charm of both female leads on- and off-screen, is undeniable, and they deserve all the praise. 8.3 out of 10.

This film tells a story that combines both sports and female narratives. The director skillfully weaves together real footage, flashbacks of the protagonist's traumatic teenage years, and Nyad's journey to conquer the straits. Despite the audience's familiarity with the outcome of this feat, we can also see how women, especially older women, persevere through multiple attempts, overcome challenges, and find strength in the pursuit of their dreams.

A woman in her 60s can still win her first Oscar, and even swim from Cuba to Florida in one go. Ladies, don’t let anybody tell you that you are ever past your prime. Never give up.

As the older protagonist battles on in the sea, flashbacks of her trauma from her teenage years continuously interweave with the present, which makes the seemingly monotonous process of her challenges in the sea more impactful and vivid. The film tenderly portrays the profound and platonic friendship between lesbians, with many thoughtful details that strike a chord with the audience. Of course, the leading actress’s exquisite performance in perfectly capturing the essence of these real-life characters cannot go unnoticed. Although there are visible flaws in some transition edits, it doesn't diminish the overall emotive power of the story, and the genuine behind-the-scenes at the end of the film are especially moving. Diana Nyad, as an openly queer world-class female athlete, is truly remarkable.

I gotta say, Jodie Foster's performance in the film is absolutely incredible and so darn inspiring. She's actually won the Best Actress Oscar not once, but twice, and she's even been honored with lifetime achievement awards from the Cannes Film Festival and the Golden Globes. Her portrayal of Bonnie, a supporting role, is such a brave attempt to bring the real-life experiences of the LGBT community to the forefront through her acting. When I watch her performance, I can truly feel her deep respect and love for acting and the LGBT community. Foster, just like Bening, is now around the same age as when Nyad successfully swam from Cuba to Florida in 2013. And let me tell you, their performances also make me believe that as long as you're willing to give it a shot and push yourself, age ain't nothing but a number and a woman's got endless possibilities in her life. And hey, I really, really hope Foster and Bening both knock it out of the park during awards season.
