After his wife is brutally murdered and his daughter assaulted in a home invasion, Paul Kersey, an architect in New York City, becomes a vigilante to seek justice when the police fail to apprehend the culprits. He takes matters into his own hands, prowling the streets at night to dispense his own brand of violent retribution against criminals, earning both notoriety and infamy in the process.
