K AugustSeptember 24, 2025A disgusting and brilliant body horror film that people seem to think is the best thing David Cronenberg ever made. Not true, but I do like the relationship between the at the time very real couple of Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis, and how they attempted to handle their situation. And the visual effects speak for themselves.
Now, watch the original!!!

Luís.DiegoMay 31, 2024David Cronenberg really just needed to showcase more of his crazy ideas in this movie because the plot was already creative and well-developed in the original version of the film. But compared to his earlier works, this movie feels like it's just playing with little tricks and gimmicks. It's not as bloody or intense as I expected, and the foreshadowing buildup is a bit too long, making it kind of lackluster.

oldOliverMay 31, 2024A high-concept film of its time, with a cultish and thrilling art style. David Cronenberg presents as much as possible of the stuff we usually try to avoid thinking about. It shows the horror of physical transformation, but at its core, it's a profoundly emotional love tragedy with solid ethical implications. Overall, it's a truly remarkable genre film.

Ari_HassMay 31, 2024This is definitely a sci-fi thriller worth checking out. The visual design and the Fly-man's transformation process are so disgustingly realistic, the film won the Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling in 1987. The climax is absolutely mind-blowing! Another great thing about the movie is how well it portrays the protagonist's psychological and emotional changes. It really brings the classic "mad scientist" theme to life. Overall, I'd give it an 8.5/10.

Brianna_BoydMay 31, 2024I watched this movie so long ago that I can't recall all the details clearly. The plot is pretty thin. It's a story about a scientist, a female reporter, and a minor character. But there are definitely some really cultish and hardcore scenes in this film. Yeah, it could be considered a classic cult movie that tells the story of the tragedy caused by an immortal fly in a lab.
