Eraser (1996)★ 6.7/10

While packed with explosive set pieces, the film overemphasizes Schwarzenegger’s near-invincible persona. From leaping out of planes to single-handedly taking on an entire criminal syndicate, his character borders on superheroic, which weakens the film’s credibility. The villains are underdeveloped, and the plot lacks cohesion.

Some of the high-tech weapon designs still look innovative today. Though firmly a conventional Hollywood action film, its fast pace and relentless tension keep it engaging throughout. Arnold Schwarzenegger delivers a confident, capable lead, and even the over-the-top plane jump sequence manages to entertain.
