Lucas.March 17, 2026A classic with lots of funny moments. If you want to learn how to do comedy in a silent way, which is somewhat of a lost skill, then this should be exhibit A. Well worth a watch for any major cinephile.

K AugustOctober 2, 2025A brilliant film, and one that I avoided for too long. I watched this at a festival, and it became clear to me why this made the Sight and Sound list of the best films ever made. Buster Keaton plays a Confederate soldier who is determined to make it across enemy lines with a train that often seems to have a mind of its own. Its physical gags and twists and turns are still remarkable and I would recommend it to anyone attempting to understand the appeal of the silent film.

Jared_StanleyMay 28, 2025One of Keaton’s defining works, this genre-blending adventure features war, romance, and slapstick in equal measure. Shot in just eight weeks, the film’s symmetrical train chase structure is a marvel of classical narrative, and Keaton’s physical comedy remains effortlessly charming.

Herbert_FrancisMay 23, 2025It’s almost hard to believe "The General" is a silent film from the 1920s—its technical mastery is astonishing. The synchronization of movements between human, machine, and editing is seamless, with Buster Keaton delivering not only precision but wit, particularly in the film’s expertly staged action and effects.
