Haunting memories plague Françoise, a French woman, and keep drawing her back to Berlin - the city where, many years ago, her three-year-old daughter vanished without a trace. During her wanderings through Berlin, she meets Nina, an outsider who lives in an assisted-living facility. Before long, Françoise becomes obsessed with the idea that Nina might be her lost child.
