The film tells the story of three generations of women living together in poverty. Each presents a different approach to life. The mother and her daughter differ most. Daughter Agata, though she struggles to believe in herself, strives to fulfill her dreams of becoming an artist. Her mother, who has a radically different approach to life, doesn't understand her ambitions. She doesn't work and sees no reason to change her passive behavior. The frustrated girl relies on her grandmother, who motivates her to pursue her dreams. When her grandmother dies, Agata decides to fight for herself, recalling the words of the woman who supported her, and in the process, the mother-daughter relationship improves significantly.
