The cast is actually pretty good, and the story is insanely brutal. It may not make sense in some places, but isn't that the basics of any slasher movie?

A mediocre prequel. The series is simply an illogical gore-fest, and the only reason for watching is the sensory thrills. The creators try to elevate the theme and explore the (fallability of) human nature, but it’s all in vain. So when the hero raises the chainsaw, the audience will probably feel confused, and will not have any thoughts about good or evil. However, the movie does do a good job of continuing the style of its predecessor, and the Texas highway setting is still like the same old one.

It's even darker and sicker than the predecessor. More than just presenting the darkness, the whole story is written in the style of fighting evil with evil. The depiction of the darkness of human nature and violence is going to the extremes, with lots of nasty and dirty scenes added in. I can't fault the stereotypes or flatness of the characters; after all, that's the way it is with these kinds of sadistic horror movies. But watching the lovely Finn Jones in this kind of film made me feel a little bit sorry…

The characterization is not deep enough and the theme is so feeble that even the goriest killings reduces the movie to a cheap entertainment quickie. The horror created for the sake of fright can only be visually disgust you a little but leaves no deep impression; the characters who are stupid and take the road to their ruin, on the other hand, make the audience feel insulted. It's all a bit dated really.

Sinceramente, me parece bastante anticuada.
