A pretty standard studio-style assembly line product that comes with dark visuals and mediocre sound design, with only scene of the first home visit barely passing muster.

The hand of the horror movie is used to show childhood shadows, like the parents who adhere to dogmatic stereotypes (it's evident in the way the parents dress and the way they act, etc.), disregard for their children (they don't believe in them), unfulfilled emotional needs, and differential treatment of the sister, etc. It's not the monsters that are scary, it's the families like this scare. Sadly, it is also true that there are countless such families nowadays, and horror movies are just a microcosm that alludes to society.
