The Wild Robot
Reseñas generalesPlease 🙏
Don't save me,
I have nothing to lose,
Without you darling…
🎼Birds of a feather 🎵🎶
I still remember the emotion that marked me, seeing the official trailer of this movie…
Not only was it the right choice for the trailer,
It was the right choice to convey the feeling behind it.
Yes… !
You must already know which movie I'm referring to…
And maybe you're thinking of another review about this one.
But, No.
Don't go yet.
I'll start by assuring you without fear of being wrong that it will be the movie of the year, winner of at least one Oscar in its category (animated film).
Why?
Because in a world where we lose ourselves as humanity it is ironic that a robot teaches us about feelings.
And the writer of that book not only makes the perfect analogy to represent what "a mother" is or what it means to "be a father", but he also takes us on a journey of self-reflection towards what it is to be "a son".
Whoever didn't shed a tear when watching this movie is not human...
Imagine this scene which is like a reference to the genesis of a superhero.
Spoiler Alert!
Your entire family dies in a tragic accident and you are adopted by the person who caused it, who raises you as his own son...
That is an unexpected twist that not even Knight Shyamalam in his most twisted dreams would have imagined.
Let's go back to the main story.
Roz is a robot in the middle of a jungle full of dangers who meets Fink, a “fox” who will help her raise Brillo, an “orphaned” goose.
Something very curious but that has a certain parallel with human reality.
A single mother in the middle of this “concrete jungle” with a partner who has the ability to manipulate the situation for his benefit like a cunning fox.
A more common reality today, the story progresses to where Fink acts as a surrogate father trying to be more understanding with the child while; Roz is more demanding as a mother knowing that she has to prepare Brillo to literally “leave the nest”.
But as in life time passes and Brillo, the child grows and reaches adolescence, a complicated age where the search for identity and acceptance is elementary [my dear Watson].
The classic philosophical questions arise about Who am I? Why do I exist? What is my purpose in life?
This scene shows the overprotective feeling of a mother, at the same time it reveals the truth of the initial tragedy that as Fink said:
"DON'T SAY IT OUT LOUD"
A bomb that is not easy to drop for someone who is adopted, who will know how irreversible the world will become after finding out:
I, NO... I AM YOUR FATHER!… [LUKE]
In this case MOTHER and to complete the cake the cherry says:
I murdered your family by accident...
We reach the halfway point with emotion at a thousand and with the audience divided.
As in life, the past haunts us and Roz is caught by hers where it is revealed that she has ignored her programming, the same as every mother does by putting the interests and needs of her children first before her own well-being.
What a lesson for all:
There are no limits to what a mother is willing to do for a child…
The story is not over, we will smooth things over and understand that even though she is not my real mother, we need each other.
One to keep a promise and the other to fulfill his goals in life, to fly and leave the nest…
Roz not only taught us the meaning of family, she also taught us the value of altruism, being willing to sacrifice for others even when no one is willing to do it for oneself.
Even in this cold world where we live in a wave of selfishness and me first, where if I am fine and something bad happens to you, well, too bad for you.
Roz faced the harsh winter of the loss of humanity and human warmth; and she not only made it possible for prey and predators to live together but also to work as a team for a common good.
What a lesson for everyone:
If we unite with the same goal, we are unstoppable.
An epic final battle worthy of MARVEL…
We reached the end:
Sitting in my seat I thought about the carousel of emotions I felt and how moving it was to see a robot and a duck go through all this drama… and a fox… of course!
I was amazed!
What a great story!
Maybe I wasn't very brief…
If you got this far… Thank you
And think about what we are today as people…
And if we need a robot to give us lessons in humanity.
The title should be: “Savage Humans”
For this and many other reasons that I cannot edit, it is the film that makes me cry and I can say with certainty:
“With you, the animated film of 2024 is”:
“THE WILD ROBOT”
