Virus tropical (2017)★ 7.2/10

Based on the autobiographical graphic novel by Power Paola, this black-and-white animated film traces the expansion—and eventual unraveling—of a family. It charts the evolution of each member’s path with quiet sensitivity, showing moments of love, conflict, and inevitable separation. It’s a tender, bittersweet contemplation on the passage of time.

Visually and thematically, it recalls "Persepolis," though it lacks the same historical depth. Instead, it presents an intimate, slice-of-life portrait of one girl’s gradual journey toward independence. Despite the simplicity, it captures the nuances of growing up with a quiet precision.
