Un desenlace más arriesgado y extremo habría sido mucho más emocionante; en cambio, el cierre tan conservador delata la falta de audacia del director y del guionista.

Porém, a partir do final do segundo ato, o enredo cai em clichês. A reviravolta final, embora pretendida como uma surpresa, é completamente previsível. Um final mais ousado e extremo poderia ter sido muito mais emocionante; em vez disso, a conclusão excessivamente segura expõe o conservadorismo criativo do diretor e do escritor.

The script is decent and the cast includes some well-known names, but the overall filmmaking is by-the-book, and the actors’ performances come off as rather half-hearted.

The first half of the film is quite engaging, reminiscent of the style of Shutter Island, and it successfully establishes an atmosphere of suspense. However, from the end of the second act onward, the storyline falls into clichés. The final twist, though intended as a surprise, is completely predictable. A bolder, more extreme ending might have been far more exciting; instead, the overly safe conclusion exposes the creative conservatism of the director and writer.

Everyone is putting on a facade and playing "others" — the dean, the assistant, the nurse, the horse — and I’m just playing doctor. You say I’m incurable because I play so well. Don’t you define who I am; just know that I am a lover.

People who think themselves superior to others are often the most pathetic.
