Do you prefer CGI or practical effects?

I think this depends - I feel there is a perceptive realism that practical effects give that makes you more immersed in the film. For example, I know CGI Yoda in the prequels trilogy is fake, but puppet Yoda, I think that dude was real.

practical all day!! puppets specifically, they just have so much more character. I watched that movie the Legend of Ochi and while the overall story was kinda meh to me i loved seeing the little creature puppet things. I think even when its done kinda shitty its still good lol

This might be a hot take, but I think I prefer CGI, at least in the modern era. I love old movies that use practical effects and I'm often amazed at how they pulled their tricks off. But today, I feel filmmakers should use all the tools available to them, and that includes CGI
