What is the reason to start writing?

A untold story till now 

A long time ago I created a story, I created someone out of nothing and brought to life a narrative. I called it Darkness Minds. I didn’t know who this person was at first or what his story would be but I would just write and see where it took me. I would pull it up on my computer or phone throughout the decade. I thought to myself “maybe one day I’ll make something out of it.” Unfortunately, I didn’t have the confidence to do so. My brother over the years has work towards his writing and he’s really good. He would spend so long creating pieces of art for people to read and enjoy but I didn’t have his dedication. One day he explained to me the reasons he liked writing, you could hear it in his voice that he was proud of his work. He made characters you could connect with, powerful characters with a journey ahead of them. He puts his passion out there for everyone to see and that was inspiring to me. I thought I’d give it a try and start writing. I decided to put Darkness Minds out there for everyone to read and hopefully with time and patience, I could make a series. I’m still learning how to connect with my audience but there’s something about opening up on here that makes you feel heard in a very special way. I’ve taken the time to read and share my comments and it truly feels like a community on here. The reason I write is for connection, to the reader, to myself and my thoughts, to the idea that anything is possible and that’s pretty awesome. What’s your reason for writing?
