VIFF Day (???) Recap

I'm back with moreee. I think I'm one third popcorn by now, and I live in the movie theatre.

Youngblood

A classic sports movie with some solid performances and cool looking hockey games. I had to go to the bathroom halfway through and I was too scared to try and find my seat again in the dark, so I watched the third act from the very back row. It was a vibe, honestly.

Foreigner

I needed this. Foreigner was a breath of fresh air after so many straight dramas in a row. It was fun and campy, and a great October spooky horror-ish movie. Had a blast with this one, and added it to my tally of Canadian films, along with Youngblood.

The Nonsense

My friend invited me to come to this one and we literally got the very last standby tickets. The Nonsense had some really cool ideas, but it didn't come together in a satisfying way for me. The two leads did a great job though.

The Mastermind

9pm is not the best time to see The Mastermind. It's very slow, and intentionally so. I was glad that the Granville Stage had good popcorn. Based on the opinions of everyone else I've talked to about this movie, I might be the only one who liked it.

You can check out more in depth reviews on the respective pages for these movies. We're in the final stretch of VIFF now, and I'm not slowing down!

Gotta say reading that The Mastermind is intentionally slow makes me wanna watch it even more!
