Fiume o Morte! Tonight!
Fiume o Morte! plays tonight at VIFF, and it's honestly the film I'm most excited to see. As with every other VIFF film, I try to go in without too much information, so I've only read the short blurb you find at the official blurb.
Still, I know it's a documentary/recreation of Gabriele D'Annunzio's occupation of Fiume in the 1920s. D'Annunzio is just such a weird, fascinating guy who did a bit of everything a guy could do: poet, war hero, proto-fascist, anti-fascist, filmmaker, adventurer, just whatever. He has a long, complicated legacy, and I hope that translates into a weird, complicated film.
I'm hyped for this one. I'll keep the discussion post going for my reactions after the film. Good or bad, I know I'm gonna have something to say.
