Insidious: Out Of Ideas
General ReviewsInsidious returns once more with another installament in the franchise and this time is directed by Jacob Chase, and stars Amelia Eve, Lin Shaye, Laura Gordon and Brandon Perea
The story takes place some days after The Red Door events, and follows a single mother who begins to experience some strange ocurrences, but everything is linked to his past.

Good Scares, Messy Story
Insidious Out Of The Further opens with a flashback in 1971 where a young girl is scared of his own mother when she starts to act strange towards her. The opening scene sets the stage of what‘s to come, and strongly, Jacob Chase directs this with such a wild style that you think the rest of the movie will be with the same tone.
Sadly, it didn‘t.
The story has some pretty good ideas. Jacob Chase honors the previous films, in a way that feels so unexpected and scary, but the ideas never get to have a good execution, and it ends up in a messy storyline that has little coherence, by the end.
The Goods
Insidious Out Of The Further is doing his best when it remembers what a great horror franchise he is. A good horror movie needs a good story, a commited direction, and that the jump scares are not an element to scare your audience. The franchise has a strong message is that how to surprass trauma through generations, and that‘s what James Wan wanted to convey from the beginning.
The flashback sequences are amazingly directed, atmosphere to the point that could become another movie of his own.
But, the movie elevates when Lin Shaye appears on screen as Elise, she‘s becoming the Captain America of the Insidious franchise, and were here for it. The performances were always the best part of the franchise, and this movie show us that even secondary characters are great in their parts.

Out of Ideas
Although, the movie is entretaining, and you are invested in the atmosphere of the story, the mythology expands into something rather dumb, while establishing new rules about The Further that doesn‘t entirely land into something coherent, it feels more like a desesperate way to continue to cycle back in a few years with another film.
Final Thoughts
Insidious Out Of The Further is a watchable film, not a bad movie, but it keeps proving that James Wan needs to take the wheel again, and direct and write an Insidious film before this collapses again.
