Solo Leveling (2024)★ 8.4/10

An anime about revenge and rebirth while focusing on the conflict between the characters' psychology and reality. I can understand the choices made by the protagonist, even though I may disagree with them. The way this anime portrays the destruction of the human psyche through despair and powerlessness is truly impactful. However, I stopped watching after the fifth episode because the protagonist's image and the story's pacing seemed to have changed. It felt like the first five episodes were just worldbuilding and foreshadowing, and the later storyline seems purely for mindless entertainment.

12 episodes is simply not enough! I'll have to catch up on the original manga since I haven't read it yet. Overall, the plot feels a bit outdated and overly straightforward, but the theme is still very appealing. The first season was just average, but the male lead's values on survival are extremely rare in today's anime.

Overall, I really enjoyed this anime. The artwork is beautifully done, and the battle scenes are compelling. Personally, I'm pretty a fan of the opening song. However, there are two drawbacks for me. Firstly, the overall plot of this season wasn't as exciting as I had hoped. I've heard it might get more thrilling in the next season, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Secondly, the voice acting for the male protagonist can be a bit annoying. He's always shouting during fights, which gets a little tiresome.

Solo Leveling exceeded expectations with its character development and straightforward yet intricate world-building. While the action sequences could be improved, the series overall is definitely above average.

Solo Leveling concludes on a high note with excellent animation that elevates many battle scenes. And I loved the opening theme song so much that I didn't bother skipping it when binge-watching. However, the overarching storyline fell short of the exhilarating adventure I expected, though there's hope the next season might ramp up the excitement.

Bueno
