I've seen the original version, and I'm really digging this adaptation too. The cinematography is absolutely on another level, to the point where I didn't even consider skipping ahead—I just had to watch it all in one go. Talk about an immersive experience! Every frame seems meticulously crafted, even the background sound effects during the end credits perfectly match each episode's content. The black-and-white style really enhances the dark and suspenseful elements, accentuating the protagonist's brooding and mysterious nature. The aesthetics and composition are simply mind-blowing. I'm just at a loss for words.

This may be my favorite show of the year. Anyway, I gotta take the time to savor and fully appreciate it again because just one viewing won't cut it. There are many differences between this series and the 1999 film version. I haven't read the original source material, but I think the series might be more faithful to it compared to the film. Honestly, I'm a fan of both versions, and they each bring something unique to the table. But what sets the series apart is how it lets me intimately observe textbook-level antisocial behavior without any distractions. It's seriously fascinating and completely mesmerizing.

The standout feature of this show is its visually stunning aesthetic, especially with the black-and-white cinematography, clever lighting techniques, beautiful art paintings, massive sculptures, and unique composition angles. The chemistry among the three main actors is impressive, and they really deliver captivating performances. Andrew Scott brings out this mysterious character with hidden intentions in such an artistic way. However, the show's biggest flaw is that the director prioritized his artistic expression over storytelling. The episodes could easily be trimmed down by half for a better pace. Overall, it's another example of a significant imbalance between artistic integrity and commercial appeal.

I'm not too invested in this remake, because I'm not really into the film version. Anyway, the overall vibe of the show is just right. It's set in the 60s, but I'm still scratching my head about why they went with the black-and-white visuals for the whole series. It's a bummer because I can't fully appreciate the stunning Italian scenery. The storyline has some intrigue, but it's dragging a bit with those long stretches of scenes without any dialogue. Honestly, they could easily cut each episode in half, and it wouldn't hurt. The vintage segments at the beginning and end of the season were a bit confusing, and the ending left something to be desired without fully resolving everything. I know there's more material to draw from, but this show was meant to be limited, which just leaves me a bit puzzled.

This show is practically a masterclass in photography. The composition and editing are rock solid, making it impossible to tear my eyes away. I found myself screenshotting every perfect moment. It's the most stylish black-and-white series I've seen lately, with that old-school noir vibe and the kind of anxiety you'd find in classic literature. The lead actor nails it, drawing me in and making me feel part of every murder scene. This show is just straight-up perfection!

This show is seriously incredible, easily top ten series for the year. The scenes without any dialogues really amplify the tension, and they nail it with how they use sound and action to dig into the characters' heads. Plus, they throw in these intense moments that keep you hooked. Episodes 5 and 8 are standouts, where I can practically feel Ripley's nerves crawling under my skin. Absolute Cinema!

Steven Zaillian's filmmaking style is straight-up old-school, and he brings a refined touch to the entire series with his careful attention to composition and lighting. The storyline actually expands the original two-hour movie into an 8-episode TV series while keeping each episode's plot simple without majorly altering the original story. The 3rd and 5th episodes are seriously good, and the 8th episode wraps up with a mind-blowing twist that feels like a true cinematic experience.

This slow-burn thriller is packed with juicy details and a solid plot development. Sure, the crime itself ain't flawless, with its fair share of hiccups and potential disasters, but man, it's fascinating to witness the characters' journey. The black-and-white visuals are incredibly classy, with meticulous composition and lighting that takes me back to watching Hitchcock and Carol Reed. And you won't believe how Italy's beauty shines even without colors in this show. It is hands down the best series of the year, and I can't freaking wait for Season 2.

I totally binged the entire series, and let me tell you, this "Ripley" version is seriously well-crafted! The 8-episode storyline is top-notch! The attention to detail is on point. And it smoothly weaves the story of Caravaggio without trying too hard to emphasize the protagonist's genius traits. This show does a much better job presenting the middle-aged main character's story than the 1999 film version, with better-portrayed characters. The visuals stay mostly black-and-white throughout, the cinematography is so comforting, and that Maine Coon cat really made a lasting impression in just a few seconds of color.
