I had never heard of Andrea Gibson before but was immediately enraptured by their performances, meaning, the excerpts of those we see throughout the film.
This documentary got a fair amount of awards buzz, which enticed me to watch it on Apple TV. I might not have started a movie about someone living with cancer otherwise.
Yes, the film includes many moments of grief but a combination of editorial choices and Andrea Gibson's and their wife Megan Falley's embrace of life make this ultimately a hopeful and positive film.
I loved the ending of the film, shot while Gibson was still alive. The version I watched on Apple TV did not have a post-scriptum about the poet's passing, but I had learned this information from media coverage, so it's hardly a spoiler if I mention it here.
