The DCOctober 4, 2025The film does a great job of combining nostalgia, innocence, dread, and wonder. The story has some hard twists in terms of tone, but they always seem to flow organically from the mind of 11-year-old Fuki (with a great performance by Yui Suzuki). Renoir has many great things going for it, but it doesn't do enough to separate itself from other coming-of-age films.
