The piggy bank in the cabinet was stolen because of trust, and the leftover food in the fridge after the Spring Festival was just a reminder of loneliness. The words on fortune slips, and the ripe pomegranates on the tree were the grandmother's quiet ways of showing love for the family. I moved into her house for my own benefit, but all she wanted was to buy a peaceful cemetery. When I finally understood her intentions, I realized what she never said openly. And when her smell was no longer in the room, I remembered the love she had promised me.

Even though the grandmother couldn’t afford to buy a grave, she didn't even consider using the one million she gave to her grandson. It's heartbreaking.

Though touching, it leaves a complicated feeling when you consider how the daughter is treated. Doesn’t this just break her heart? The son inherits the estate, the daughter inherits cancer, the grandson gets a trust fund, and the daughter ends up with nothing.

It’s surprising how a film about inheritance manages to address some of today’s most contentious social issues: women’s sacrifices within the family, empty nest syndrome, end-of-life care, and confronting death. Set to music reminiscent of Joe Hisaishi, this Thai realist drama is suffused with sorrow.

Com uma música que lembra Joe Hisaishi, este drama realista tailandês é permeado de tristeza.
