Scot_IrwinMay 1, 2025Some of the film’s comedic elements stray too far from realism. For instance, the scene where Alyssa tries to retrieve shoes from a power line and nearly gets electrocuted might be funny, but it feels contrived. The third act also falters—its antagonist is too thinly drawn to build real tension, leaving the climax emotionally underwhelming.

Ariel_HartApril 27, 2025Keke Palmer is unforgettable as Drex. She captures the exhaustion of a woman under constant pressure, yet infuses the role with wit and resilience. Whether thinking on her feet or navigating chaos, Palmer brings Drex to life with nuanced expressions and authenticity. Meanwhile, SZA makes a surprisingly strong acting debut, embodying Alyssa’s impulsive charm and carefree spirit with ease.

thbzcrt_7February 13, 2025The film’s vibe is complemented by the stunning performances of its lead actresses. It tells the story of two best friends racing against time to scrape together rent money. It’s humorous yet insightful, offering a glimpse into the daily struggles of Black communities. The carefree, live-in-the-moment attitude of the characters mirrors the outlook of many young people today.

SuperMovieFebruary 12, 2025Beneath its seemingly eccentric comedic exterior, this film cleverly highlights the challenges faced by modern Black women. The outlandish plot is tied together with sharp writing, and the heartfelt depiction of sisterhood and romantic relationships makes it a compelling watch. It’s quirky yet poignant in its storytelling.

StevenCsMoviesJanuary 26, 2025Comedies have become more of a rarity these days. When I first saw the trailer for ONE OF THEM DAYS, I thought it might not be aimed at me. Curiosity got the better of me, I gave it a chance. I’m happy I did. It follows two best friends Dreux (Keke Palmer) and Alyssa (SZA) who are forced to come up with their rent money by the end of the day because Alyssa gave it to her leech of a f***boy Keshawn (Joshua Neal). Things get more complicated when their hunt takes them all around their neighborhood. This was a very fun movie. Not all of the jokes landed with me, but a good majority of them did. There are two things that make this movie worth seeing. The chemistry and comedic timing between Palmer and SZA were palpable. I believed they were best friends, no matter what mistakes they made (there were a lot). The second thing was the side characters. Most of them were hilarious, all of them felt relatable and surprisingly fleshed out. Detailing them would go into spoiler territory, and I don’t go there. Buddy comedies are always good if the heart of it is the relationship between the two protagonists. I find it hard to believe this is SZA’s first acting gig. Go see this movie, at least ONE OF THEM DAYS.
