Caicai, a Chinese farmer turned internet influencer, has dedicated his life to building innovative passive solar greenhouses to combat Alberta's harsh climate. Driven by his grand vision, like-minded Chinese fathers unite to pursue sustainable farming. Through the year of their lives, we are introduced to each family and understanding each dynamic perhaps just like the vegetables that they are growing - has their own unique need and require a different type of care as they are striving to build new lives in their adopted country. Through this intimate lens, Fruit is Ripe takes us inside the families and greenhouses, As the children grow and the vegetables ripen, the film celebrates family values in these newcomers's homes.
