dascenicJuly 4, 2025The production is polished and largely faithful to the novel, which makes for a decent watch. Still, the film struggles to find a voice of its own. After two centuries of constant reinterpretations, the source material now feels oddly dated in this form.

Bernadette_CervantesJuly 1, 2025I haven’t read the original novel, but I imagine the changes here are significant. The storytelling is conventional and safe, and I didn’t care for the ending. What really grated, though, was the lazy score: the same cue recycles every time the tension rises, which quickly becomes repetitive and uninspired.
