This movie ambitiously attempts to tackle various themes, but it ultimately falls short in execution. It clearly wants to dive into the jury system like 12 Angry Men while also exploring the morality and humanity of the characters. On top of that, it throws in some crime, thriller, and detective vibes, but none of it really comes together in a satisfying way.

I wasn’t expecting it to go this way, but wow—what a story! While the plot itself isn’t anything groundbreaking, seeing it through Clint Eastwood’s lens makes it all the more interesting. In his recent films like Sully, Gran Torino, and Richard Jewell, the protagonists are usually characters that represent justice—especially in Sully and Richard Jewell, where they’re wrongfully accused but still end up doing something good. But here, the protagonist faces a tough moral dilemma. It’s a compelling conflict, and the twist at the end really sealed the deal for me. The jury scenes felt a bit rushed, but still, this is definitely one of the must-watch films of the year.

This is a super good courtroom drama that really does a great job of showcasing the American jury system. The tension keeps building, and the way it tackles morality and human nature is pretty fascinating. What I liked most was that there’s no clear villain—just people making tough choices in difficult situations. The ending is very unexpected and open, which makes it even more powerful. And honestly, the movie’s also a big reminder of how important surveillance cameras and dashcams are these days.

Clint Eastwood is definitely showing his age. This movie feels like a glass of plain water. Sure, it still has that signature Eastwood vibe, but the excitement is totally drained away by the slow pacing. It’s not really a crime thriller, and it doesn’t dig deep enough into Justin Kemp’s psychological struggle. Honestly, it’s kind of a letdown.

Clint Eastwood has produced 55 movies, has starred in 73 movies, and has directed 45. He is freakin 94 years old and has no plans of slowing down. His newest as a director is JUROR #2. This is an old-fashioned courtroom drama about a jury going over evidence of a high-profile homicide case, much like the classic 12 ANGRY MEN. Unlike that movie, this focuses on one specific juror……the second one, Justin (Nicolas Hoult). He’s a family man with an extremely pregnant wife Alison (Zoey Deutch). This is a great movie, which baffles me, since Warner Bros was going to release it straight to Max. They then decided to throw Clint a bone and do the barest minimum of a theatrical release. It’s like they had no hope for this, even though Clint has been making them money for literally 50 years. They’ve been making dumb decisions recently. Anyway, JUROR #2 is a well thought out character study wrapped in a mystery that unfolds as we hear more evidence or learn about a character. There is amazing talent here, including Toni Collette, Chris Messina, J.K Simmons, Keifer Sutherland, even Francesca Eastwood, Clint’s daughter. This is a quiet movie with a smart script that leaves you asking yourself questions. Each character felt realistic in their reactions. Also, I really enjoyed how it ends! Man, wouldn’t you like to know. As always, Eastwood respects the intelligence of his audience. For a movie that’s about the system of government and the law, it doesn’t showcase a political side, which I appreciate. On the surface, JUROR #2 is about having power over somebody’s life, and how empathy is important when considering your options. On a deeper level, I’ll just give you the movie’s slogan: Justice is blind, guilt sees everything. It’s sad that this didn’t get a proper release, but it’s going to be on Max/Crave sometime this month. I’m so happy it released near me, and I highly recommend it!

É um conflito convincente, e a reviravolta no final me convenceu.
