The original "Inside Out" succeeded due to its creativity, and I feel a sequel was unnecessary. The only line that resonated with me was Joy’s observation: “Maybe that's what happens when you grow up, you feel less joy.” Indeed, as we age, anxiety creeps in, but pinpointing exactly what we’re anxious about is often elusive. Just as Anxiety aimed to bring Riley joy, it only ended up making things worse.

The story is quite brief, and aside from Anxiety, the new characters lack substantial screen time. Joy’s multifaceted personality isn’t deeply explored, replaced by more adventure elements. The ending seems to echo themes of self-acceptance, but it doesn’t feel fundamentally different from the conclusion of the first film. If the intention was to emphasize Anxiety’s importance, a better script is needed.

As a sequel, this movie seems less creative or well-told than its amazing predecessor, but it's still a great watch. It reminds us that we should accept all our emotions, good or bad, and embrace them as part of who we are.

Compared to the first flick, this one doesn't bring many fresh ideas to the table. It feels more like an extension of the first one; even the Easter egg is just an extension of the one from the first movie. It tries to be funny about growing up but I wasn't amused. However, one message hit home for me: as we age, we get better at managing our emotions. We might not wear our hearts on our sleeves like we used to, but those feelings still define us.

It feels like I'm past the whole "Embrace all your emotions; it's what makes you unique" thing. Now, I just smile and keep it moving when hearing that kind of stuff. As far as the movie goes, it's pretty solid. Every aspect was well executed, and it seems they stuck to a tightly structured script. But the ending just didn't sit right with me. And for some weird reason, "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" kept popping into my head during the film.

Intensely part one (2015):

Positive message: The film teaches us the importance of accepting all our emotions, both positive and negative, and how these influence our decisions and actions. Additionally, it highlights the importance of family and friendship in our emotional development.

(The good):

Originality: The premise of exploring a girl's inner world is unique and creative.
Memorable characters: Personified emotions such as Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust are very charismatic and easy to identify.
Visually appealing: The animation is colorful and vibrant, creating a visually stunning inner world.

(Bad):

Some parts may be complex for younger children: Some emotional concepts may be difficult for younger children to understand.

Inside Out 2 (2022):

Positive message: The second part delves into the exploration of emotions, this time focusing on adolescence and the emotional changes experienced during this stage. The film highlights the importance of adaptation and personal growth.

(The good):

Continuity: The sequel maintains the essence of the first film, but explores new aspects of emotions.

New Characters: The introduction of new characters such as Alegría 2.0 and 4,000 thoughts adds depth to the story.
Relevant Themes: The film addresses themes such as identity, friendship, and social pressure, which are very relevant to teenagers.

(Bad):

It may seem less innovative than the first part: Being a sequel, some elements may feel more familiar.

Overall, both Inside Out films are very well-made animated works that offer a positive and thoughtful message about emotions. The first part set a very high standard and the second part managed to maintain the quality and expand the universe of emotions.
