If this movie had ended at 1 hour and 20 minutes, it would have been a complete masterpiece. But everything just fell apart in the last five minutes.

In this film, the director weaves themes of aging, illness, and death into everyday life so skillfully that you almost believe in the power of the soul—only to have it all unravel in a heartbeat. Yet even as the film takes on a dreamlike quality, he reminds you that these themes are real. And his decision to cast Lee Hye-young instead of Kim Min-hee perfectly echoes the promises in the film. Hong Sang-soo just keeps getting better.

The director really captures something divine in everyday life, subtly touching on aging, illness, and death in a way that almost makes you believe in the power of the soul, only to have it all dissolved in an instant. But outside the movie, it’s clear that nothing here is a dream. Hong Sang-soo truly keeps getting better and better.

I finally get why this movie isn’t starring Min-hee Kim. Hong Sang-soo clearly couldn’t bear to have her play this role!

Claramente no habría soportado verla interpretarlo.
